Where do I go from here? Which way to the future?

As you stop to look over all that you have done and all that you have achieved, do you ever wonder how to proceed or where to proceed next? If you have dared to imagine what else your life could be like, then you’ve already taken an important step.

Fulfillment and success, however you choose to define them, are never random occurrences.

The life you have has not happened by accident or luck, and the life you yearn for will not either. While it is easily understood how limitations can arise from previous failures, you may not be aware of self-imposed limitations that arise from past successes and the apparently logical decisions you have been making. In short, many of us are held in a trap of our own making.

If the past is the lock, the future is the key.

The Transitions Institute has discovered a powerful truth about changing one’s life. It is much easier to accomplish positive change by focusing on the future rather than trying to alter the past. The simple truth is you can’t change the past. It is already over. That’s why individuals are most effective when their intentions and actions are aligned on a future they deeply desire, and to which they make a deliberate commitment.

Embracing the future is an exciting adventure. It’s not a destination, but rather a journey limited only by boundaries you place upon yourself. For those who have the tools to transcend their self-made boundaries, the future offers unlimited possibilities.

You can’t get there from here.

One of the biggest obstacles to change is the lack of a structured approach to the process of change. Reinventing yourself and designing a life of inspiration, exploration and renewal, in which you are fully engaged and turned on, takes work. It requires real thinking and a rigorous look at yourself. You need to be open in a new way to learn from your past, and you need to be willing to learn from others. People who actively engage in creating a new direction on behalf of their future must first build a foundation based on self-recognition and self-acceptance.

First complete the past. Then create the future.

The Transitions Process starts with an individually designed program that provides freedom from past-based constraints and limitations. The identification of counterproductive attitudes and behaviors leads to a startling realization that we all have the power to choose to break the grip of old patterns and experience totally new freedoms.
